Community Rail Awards 2012

Community Rail Awards 2012

Well, we’re on the way home from what can only be described as an utterly fantastic Community Rail Awards in Swindon. And that’s probably because we walked away with an Award!

We are very proud to say that the Marston Vale Community Rail Partnership won the Best Community Rail Event Award for the Easter Eggspress. It came as a complete surprise, given the level of the competition in the category, but needless to say we are chuffed. We would like to thank everybody involved in delivering the Easter Eggspress, from the railway staff to the volunteers. We couldn’t have won it without you.

The Friends of Lidlington Station beat off some tough competition to be nominated for the Best Art Project Award for the Station Mural, but unfortunately did not win. Regardless, it is an utterly fantastic project, and to even be nominated is a massive achievement in itself. So well done guys!

We hope to have a more comprehensive write-up of the awards on Monday, with a few more pictures to boot. Until then, lets celebrate!
