Colours


Colour PaletteMaking sure the website colours do not clash is one of the easiest way to make content more accessible to those who have difficulty differentiating colours. We have based our design on the colours of our logo, so it was easy to make sure that the colours of our website contrast.

Changing colours in your web browser


All web browsers have an in-built means of allowing you to change the colours of websites. Simply follow the instructions for your web browser, which are given below.

Internet Explorer

  1. Open the Tools menu
  2. Select Internet Options
  3. Select the Accessibility button in the bottom right
  4. Check the Ignore colours specified on webpage box at the top
  5. Click the Ok button
  6. With the Internet Options box still open, click on the Colours button to the bottom left
  7. Remove the tick next to Use Windows colours option
  8. Select either the Text or Background button
  9. Choose your preferred colour from the palette given, then click Ok
  10. In the Colors box, select Ok
  11. In the Internet Options box, select Ok

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open the Tools menu
  2. Select Options
  3. Click on the Content tab at the top
  4. Click on the Colours button
  5. Remove the tick next to Use system colours option
  6. Select the colour swatch next to Text or Background
  7. Choose your preferred colour from the palette given
  8. Check the Allow pages select their own colours, instead of my selections above box
  9. Click Ok
  10. Click Ok again
  11. Refresh the page to see your new colours

Opera

  1. Open the Tools menu
  2. Select Preferences
  3. Click on the Web pages tab at the top
  4. Select the box next to Normal font
  5. Select the box under Color
  6. Choose your colour from the palette given
  7. Click Ok
  8. Click the box next to Background color
  9. Choose your colour from the palette given
  10. Click Ok
  11. Click on the Advanced tab at the top
  12. Select Content from the list on the left
  13. Click on the Style options box to the right
  14. Under both the Author and User Mode headings, uncheck the Page style sheet and the Page fonts and colors boxes
  15. Under both the Author and User Mode headings, check the My fonts and colors box
  16. Click Ok
  17. Click Ok again
  18. Refresh the page to see your colours
