Fonts

Font symbolMaking sure the fonts used on this website are accessible is another easy means of making web content accessible. This is particularly easy for those of us who have reading difficulties.

We have helped to cater for this by using a font sizing system called 'em' on all our pages. Many websites used fixed sizes for their fonts, which means that they cannot change according to the users' browser or operating system settings. Using 'em' counteracts this problem.

Changing font sizes in your web browser

All web browsers have an in-built means of allowing you to change the default size of fonts on web pages. This is an essential means of taking full advantage of the 'em' font sizing system. Simply follow the instructions for your web browser, which are given below.

You can use the in-built zoom function to change font sizes instantly. Press Ctrl (Alt if you are a Mac user) and + to zoom in, and Ctrl (Alt if you are a Mac user) and - to zoom out.
