For the final ride of Bike Week, we head back to Bedford and for a slightly shortened version of the Route 51 ride that we promoted earlier this week. This ride is to Priory Country Park in Bedford.
Getting off the train at Bedford St Johns, you pick up National Cycle Route 51 near Borough Hall. Once you turn right onto Route 51, you follow the route along the river to Priory Country Park, about a 10 minute cycle away. The Park covers over 300 acres including two large lakes, flower grassland and wooded areas. There are three different trails to explore, with riverside views over water and meadows. The landscape is maintained for the benefit of both wildlife and people.
The route to and from the park is almost completely segregated from traffic, so it is a great route for all the family.
