UPDATE: Please note the Parade will now start at Frost’s Garden Centre at 4:15pm, not 4:30pm as previously advertised. To get a good seat, we recommend you catch the 14:55 from Bedford, or 15:01 from Bletchley. Any later trains are a bit tight!

In case you are missing the Olympics too much, and you missed out on the big victory parade in London, then you have a chance to honour a local Gold medal winning hero with us!

You may remember Greg Rutherford, who won Gold in the long jump on ‘Super Saturday’ at the Olympic Stadium. Well he is a local boy, from Woburn Sands, and Woburn Sands is planning a big bash to honour him.

On Friday September 28th, a vintage open tour bus will tour Woburn Sands, starting at Frosts Garden Centre at 4.15pm. It will travel past the station, along Station Road, Theydon Avenue and The Leys before stopping at Mowbray Green. Speeches will take place, while a plaque will be unveiled.

An 8.31 metre gold strip in the ground will also be revealed. The town council is inviting games makers and volunteers from the area to attend. The bus will then continue along Hardwick Road and the High Street to the Summerlin Centre, where Rutherford will sign autographs.

You can get to the event by train of course. From the Bletchley direction we recommend you catch the 15:12 arrival into Woburn Sands (leaving Bletchley at 15:01). From the Bedford direction we recommend you catch the 15:26 arrival into Woburn Sands (leaving Bedford at 14:55).
