Volunteers Clearing Vegitation

Volunteers Clearing Vegitation

Our tubs had flowered all winter but by the end of the spring they needed changing.  We were very lucky to receive donations of flowers from Staples Garden Centre near Millbrook and local resident James Cooper-Watson.  An afternoon was spent planting the new flowers into the tubs and they again look beautiful on the platforms.

Other news.   A small group of volunteers spent an evening cutting down the  vegetation behind Platform 1. This area had been previously cleared by a group from the Department of Transport but the weeds had soon returned!!

2 members of FOLS recently spent the a day in Manchester attending the ACoRP Seminar for Station Adoption.  The day was very full with speakers from different areas of the train industry as well as adoption groups.   Lots of interesting ideas were shared and  the day finished with a tour of Manchester’s beautiful Victorian Town Hall.
