We had a quiet summer on the station work wise, although watering the tubs and troughs kept us busy with all the dry weather!! October saw a group from the Department of Transport spending a few hours clearing the area behind the Bletchley bound platform and planting dozens of daffodils on the nearby grass. The were kept fed and watered by FOLS members and worked really hard. Thank you all, we’re looking forward to the spring when the daffodils will be out. Once the autumn really began to hit and the first frosts began to spoil our tubs and troughs, we decided to remove the troughs from the fence, give them a spruce up, return them to their positions and then refill them with new compost and pansies. Quite a job, but very well done by the great FOLS volunteers. Thank you to ACoRP and Lidlington Parish Council for helping to fund the plants this year.
At the end of October, a member of FOLS joined the Marston Vale Halloween train to Bletchley amid ghosts and witches, spooks and ghouls. A great time was had by all, and even though a problem with the train caused the staff a few problems, they still managed to create a great atmosphere and provide the children with balloons, face painting and treats which were all included in the price of the train ticket.
