Station adoption
Station adoption has been one of the many successes of the community rail movement. More than 1,000 adoption groups have been formed nationwide.
Station Friends Groups
As well as engaging thousands of people in volunteering, bringing people together and creating pride in station and community, these groups play a critical role in making their stations welcoming, pleasant and attractive places.
Visit the Community Rail Network for information on the work of Station Adoption Groups across the country.
Station Adoption Groups are also known as Station Friends Groups.
We have over 70 volunteers involved in Station Friends Groups at:
- Bedford St Johns
- Kempston Hardwick
- Stewartby
- Millbrook
- Lidlington
- Ridgmont
- Aspley Guise
- Bow Brickhill
- Woburn Sands
- Fenny Stratford
- Bletchley
- Bedford in partnership with Carers in Bedfordshire
Their work includes maintenance of floral displays and gardens at stations, and design & painting of murals & history panels. They are also the ‘eyes and ears’ of their local station reporting any faults and issues.
