Concerns about traffic
relating to the ‘school run’ have been well-documented
and publicised. Resulting from this pressure, the Government now
requires all state schools to produce and implement their own
School Travel Plans, which are the main means by which pupils can
be encouraged to travel to and from school
If you are a school that is located near the Marston Vale Line,
and you have students who travel in from other parts of the Marston
Vale, then we can help you in implementing your school travel plan!
The Marston Vale Line has a strong history of school pupils using
the train, and we are very interested in encouraging more and more
school pupils to use our trains! This can be done in a number of
ways:

Providing information to pupils / parents / teachers on the train service, such as fares and train times

Helping to set up Walking Buses to and from stations, with help from the relevant highway authority (and some willing volunteers!)

Encouraging pupils to become involved in their local railway by such things as special trains, competitions, and even lessons
