All aboard for Community Rail Weekend on the Marston Vale Line!
The Marston Vale
Line between Bedford and Bletchley is set to be a hive of activity
on Saturday 17th May with the inaugural Music Train and launch of a
dedicated website. The events have been arranged by the Marston
Vale Community Rail Partnership (MVCRP) as part of Community Rail
Weekend.
The first ever Marston Vale Music Train will be in full swing
during the day with the Shannon Express ‘Marc Time’
Barber Shop Quartet performing at regular intervals on the
following trains:

09:31 and 11:49 departures from Bedford
-
10:59 and 12:57 departures from Bletchley
‘Marc Time’ has an extensive repertoire, including a
number of railway-associated songs!
There is no need to book - just turn up! Cheap day returns between
Bedford and Bletchley are just £5.10 for adults and
£2.55 for children between 5 and 15. If you are travelling in
a group of friends or family the Marston Vale line is even better
value with the Groupsave ticket through which three or four adults
can travel for the price of two on off-peak services with up to
four children travelling with the group for just £1 each
– under 5s go free.
A new dedicated website for the Marston Vale Community Rail
Partnership
www.marstonvalecommunityrail.org.uk will also be
launched. The website is a ‘one stop shop’ for details
of the railway service and the activities of the Community Rail
Partnership. The website has been designed by volunteer webmaster
James Gleave.
Stephen Sleight, Transport Officer, at Bedfordshire Rural
Communities Charity said “I am thrilled that we are able to
offer the first music train on the Marston Vale line. I hope this

2008, including special trains for the Bedford River Festival on
