Marston Vale CRP Website wins National Award!
The official website for the Marston Vale
Community Rail Partnership has scooped second place in the prestigious 2008
National Community Rail Awards. The Awards were presented at a Gala Awards Dinner
in Plymouth arranged by the Association of Community Rail Partnerships.
The website has been constructed by Bedfordshire County Council employee, James Gleave
in an entirely voluntary capacity. It provides a quality ‘one stop shop’ for all aspects
of the Marston Vale Line and the Community Rail Partnership, containing a wealth of
information available on the leisure opportunities available via the line and onward
travel. There are also pages designed for specific groups, such as employers and parents
of upper school children.
The site is both user friendly and easily navigable, and had proved popular with regular
and occasional users of the line alike, attracting a growing number of hits.
Stephen, Sleight, Transport Officer, at Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity said
“I am delighted that our website has achieved national recognition. This is a fitting
reward for all James’ hard work and dedication. I look forward to going one better next
year!”
Cllr Tom Wootton, Bedfordshire County Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport,
said: “Congratulations to the team responsible for this now award-winning website.
It’s fantastic to see such recognition for the site, which has something for everyone -
from information on what’s on and where to stay, to tips on the best way to get to work
or school.”
Notes for Editors
The Marston Vale Community Rail Partnership is led by Bedfordshire
Rural Communities Charity in association with Bedfordshire County
Council, London Midland, Milton Keynes Council, Bedford Borough
Council, Mid Bedfordshire District Council, Bedford to Bletchley
Rail Users’ Association, the Forest of Marston Vale and the
Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes Associations of Town and Parish

The Partnership has been set up to act as a bridge between the
rail industry and the community to encourage more people to use the
train for travel to work and leisure, and to share their views and
ideas for improving their railway.
The Partnership will be overseeing a range of projects throughout
2008.
