Marston Vale Community Rail Partnership - Officer's Blog (August 08) ------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi everyone and welcome to the second Marston Vale Community Rail Partnership Officer's Blog. The main thing that we are working on at the moment is the Special trains to the Woodworks Festival, which you will see on the front page of the website. We've got a Special Sunday service throughout the day on Sunday, that's this coming Sunday the 7th of September. The festival station is going to be Millbrook, the same as last year, and if you don't fancy walking from Millbrook to the Forest Centre, no problem, we've got a free shuttle bus service running from Millbrook running on Sunday, and that applies to Saturday as well. So we're busy working away at that at the moment. We're also very pleased to announce that we have got funding for the redevelopment of Ridgmont station, and things are moving along there in terms of getting planners on board with the project, and also bringing in builders to give us some quotes for the station. If anybody has got any memories of Ridgmont station, of how it used to be when it was operational, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch with me. We are also actively working towards the Community Rail Awards, which are coming up on the 19th of September, for which this website has been nominated in the Best Website category. So in the next blog you will find out if we have been successful or not. We are very pleased to have been nominated in that category! We have also got a number of photographs which have been nominated for Photograph of the year, so that's exciting too. Looking a bit further ahead, our next special events will be the Ghost Train on the 1st of November, which will be a similar format to last year, which will be a similar format to last year, with trains running between 3pm and 6pm, and anyone who turns up in fancy dress will be given a free goody-bag! We are also going to be having special trains to the Bletchley Fireworks display called 'Blitznight', which is a bit earlier on the 25th of October. That will be a really good fireworks display, with fireworks set off to period wartime music. We are hoping to arrange with London Midland for tickets for the fireworks to actually be sold on the train, so you don't have to buy your ticket seperately. Then our final major event of the year will be the Santa Specials, which will be mid-December, for which there will be more details in the next Blog. Thanks for watching so far, and i look forward to the next blog later in the year. --------------------------------------------------------------------
