Marston Vale Community Rail Partnership - Officer's Blog (09/07/08) ------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi there everyone and welcome to first Marston Vale Community Rail Partnership Officer's Blog. Just to give you a quick update as to what's happening. It's a very busy time of year (when isn't it busy for a CRP here?). The summer season is a particularly busy for all of us. At the moment we are arranging our Special Trains for the Bedford River Festival (weekend of Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July). We have a late-night train on the Saturday night called the Fireworks Flyer, leaving at 11:10pm from Bedford calling at all stations. Please take the opportunity to support that! Also, i would like to publicise our Special Sunday Trains, which are running throughout the day on Sunday between 10am and 6pm. We are very lucky at the moment because we have Sunday services running on two Sunday's in a row! You can also travel on the following Sunday (20th July) to the Ugly Bug Ball at the Forest of Marston Vale. If you don't wish to use the train for that purpose and you have another journey in mind that's absolutely fine, please do support our Special Sunday trains! We are also busy working on our Ridgmont station project, which is the building you see behind me, which we are looking to bring back into community use. We are very pleased with the news that we have been awarded £200,000 of funding for the refurbishment of that station. The idea is that we will have a Community Rail Office there, with a range of ancillary facilities, including a heritage centre, a cafe, an art gallery, and some community offices. So that's a quick snapshot of what's going on with the Community Rail Partnership at the moment. If you have any queries or want any information about any of the events, have a look on the other pages of the website or get in touch. Thanks very much! --------------------------------------------------------------------
