Station Signage
Despite
the lines very important role, and increasing popularity, one of
the difficulties that we face is a low level of awareness of the
service in the communities that it serves. Awareness is so low in
some areas that people think that the service closed at the time of
the Beeching cuts!
None-the-less, the Community Rail Partnership is committed to
raising the awareness of the line in the communities that it
serves. One the key ways that we are doing this is our Station
Signage project. As the name suggests, this involves placing signs
directing people to their local station in their community, as
opposed to the road signs which are useful, but somewhat dreary! We
are also looking to improve signs at stations, to make them more
attractive and provide better information. The aim of this project
is to inform people, in their communities, that they benefit from a
community rail service, and how to get there.
We will be rolling out this project across the Marston Vale Line
soon. Watch this space for more details!
