Bedford Ladies Day

Bedford Ladies DayTo make up for last weeks somewhat late arrival of Something for the Weekend, today’s is a few hours early. So enjoy!

Undoubtedly the biggest event of the weekend takes place at Goldington Road in Bedford, where Bedford Blues RFC host their Annual Ladies Day. Always a popular event that is now in its 5th year, its a perfect excuse to get glammed up, have some fun, and watch some rugby of course. There are all sorts of events planned for the day, and all proceeds go to Cancer Research UK. The gates open at Midday, with the rugby kicking off at 3pm. The nearest station is Bedford, from where you will have to catch either a taxi or a bus to get to Goldington Road – unless you fancy walking for 30 minutes in heels!

Heading towards the other end of the line, Saturday is the last day of The Concrete Pint, the Milton Keynes Beer and Cider Festival. So dust off your pint glasses and head on down to Milton Keynes if you haven’t already. The nearest station to the event is Milton Keynes Central.

Almost as a perfect compliment to the beer, the Milton Keynes Food Festival is also taking place tomorrow in Middleton Hall, thecentre:MK. This includes demonstrations, kids cookery lessons, lots of masterclasses and plenty of delicious dishes. Events run all day, and the nearest station is Milton Keynes Central.

Finally, the football fans among you may want to attend tomorrow’s clash between Milton Keynes Dons and Stevenage. With both sides flying high in the league, some great football is likely to be on show. Kick off is at 3pm at stadium:MK. The nearest station is Fenny Stratford.

Watch out for next weeks special edition, which will be Something for the Half-Term!

Update: A late addition for you train fans. Tomorrow evening the Duchess of Sutherland steam train will be paying our line a little visit. The train will leave at 17:05, arriving at Ridgmont for 17:23. It will then leave Ridgmont at 17:38, and arrive at Bedford for 18:04. Definately something not to be missed!
