Etienne Stott

Etienne StottIt’s another week, and another in the series of Something for the weekend. Whilst there aren’t many events this week, the ones that are on are definitely Golden!

Hot on the heels of Greg Rutherford’s Gold Medal Parade in Woburn Sands today (it starts at 4:15pm, so there’s still time!), Bedford is planning its own Gold Medal Parade on Saturday in honour of its hero, Etienne Stott. This starts at 1pm at De Parys Avenue, and heads down the High Street, both of which are walking distance from Bedford and Bedford St Johns Station. We recommend getting the 11:45 arrival in Bedford, so you get a good spot!

Over in Milton Keynes, they are getting in the Olympics celebratory mood as well. At stadium:MK, there is a Family Fun Day planned. with loads of sports-related activities, and the towns Olympic and Paralympic guests will be paraded at half-time of the match between Milton Keynes Dons and Crewe Alexandra. The nearest station is Fenny Stratford, so come along and join the fun!

If you like getting hands-on, and you love Bedford’s river as well, then join Rivercare to help clean it all up. They meet at 10am at the Sea Cadet Hut on Longholme Way, with the nearest station being Bedford St Johns. We recommend getting the 09:17 arrival into Bedford St Johns from Bletchley.

As always, you can check out all the attractions on the line by looking at the Days Out section of this site. Until next week!
