There are a couple of biggies this week. Firstly, on Friday the new Higgins Art Gallery and Museum will be opening in Bedford. So you really need to get yourself down there for that. Also, it is Bike Week this week, and all week we will be promoting local rides, so keep your eyes peeled for them.
From Monday, an event lasting the entire week will be Milton Keynes College’s Summer Showcase. This year’s weeklong display at Middleton Hall in thecentre:mk will include fashion shows in association with The Body Shop, live music, performing arts displays and cookery demonstrations. It is completely free to attend, and it all takes place in thecentre:MK. The nearest station is Milton Keynes Central, a bus ride away.
Starting on Tuesday, and going on until Thursday, is a performance of The Birthday Party, a classic by Harold Pinter. You can buy tickets to this special showing online in advance. The showings take place at The Place Theatre, starting at 7:30pm. The nearest station is Bedford, a bus ride away.
On Thursday, Bedford School are holding yet another Lunchtime Concert, with this weeks concert using string instruments. As always, they start at 1pm and are free to attend. They take at Bedford School, which is within walking distance of Bedford station.
The Parks Trust are also running their Ranger Ramble today over at Tattenhoe Valley in Milton Keynes. This is an enjoyable evening walking in the park, finding out everything about the park and its wildlife. It starts at 6pm, and costs £1 per person. The nearest station is Bletchley, a bus ride away.
Bedford Skeptics in the Pub are also holding one of their regular talks. This month, they are looking at Global Corruption and the need for greater transparency in the modern world with author Laurence Cockroft. The talk starts at 7pm, and while there is no charge a donation to help towards expenses is welcomed. The event takes place at The White Horse pub in Bedford and the nearest station is Bedford, a bus ride away.
Continuing the days events are the Forest Centre, where you can attend their Norwegain Voyage Evening. Cruise Select will present a range of voyages – from the Northern Lights to Antarctica, they have a voyage for everyone, year round. It starts at 7pm and is free to attend. Heading into the weekend, and on Saturday The Stables are again putting on some live music events during the day. You can hear the Tony Kinsey Quartet and Cleo Laine and Friends, and are still able to get back for your train. You can book tickets for both events online. You can also get the chance to find out about the landscape of the Marston Vale over at the Forest Centre. Here, there is a Walk with the rangers, who will tell you everything you wanted to know about the vale! It starts at the Forest Centre at 10am, and is free to attend.
