After a summer-long absence, What’s On this Week is back and ready for action. So much so we are just going to crack on with it. But to be honest, there really is not a lot on…

This week’s big event takes place on Saturday, with the Forest of Marston Vale holding it’s annual Woodworks event. We have already posted on this, so there’s no need to explain any more right here.

On Thursday the Higgins Art Gallery in Bedford is hosting one of it’s regular lunchtime talks. This one is on Pre-Raphaelites as designers. The cost is £2, and the fun starts at 1pm. The Higgins is not too far from Bedford St Johns station.

On Saturday in thecentre:MK there is the MK Handmade and Vintage Weekend Extravaganza. There is free entry to browse a treasure trove of 120 colourful indoor market stalls, crammed with authentic vintage and handmade everything for you, your wardrobe and your home. The nearest station is Milton Keynes Central, which is a bus or cycle ride away.

Also in Milton Keynes on that day is The Parks Trust’s Country Fayre. This is a one day fayre showcasing country craft, machinery, falconry, brass band, stall and parkland farm animals. The fun starts at Midday and is completely free to enter. The event takes place at Campbell Park, which is a bus or cycle ride away from Milton Keynes Central.

Milton Keynes Dons have a home match today, hosting Swindon Town. Kick off is at 12:15pm, and tickets can be bought online. The nearest station is Fenny Stratford, which is a walk or cycle ride away.

Saturday also sees the start of the Bedfordshire Walking Festival, which is something we have already updated you on. Check out all the great walks.
