After our time out at the Community Rail Awards, it’s back to business, and that means What’s On this Week. But again, there isn’t much on across the line.
Starting on Wednesday and lasting until Saturday we have the week’s big event. The Bedford Beer and Cider Festival is a popular annual event serving quality local brews and real ales. We’ll post more on this event on Tuesday, but in the meantime we will let you know that there is a charge to attend – that varies according to the day. The event takes place at the Bedford Corn Exchange, which is within walking distance of Bedford station.
Starting on Friday and continuing on Saturday is the Milton Keynes Wedding Show at thecentre:MK. There are over 130 exhibitors to help you plan your perfect day. It takes place during normal opening hours, and the nearest station is Milton Keynes Central, a bus ride or cycle away.
On Saturday, our friends at Bletchley Park are running an event called Are You Listening? There will be displays from the British Postal Museum & Archive, The Royal Pigeon Racing Association, Milton Keynes Amateur Radio Society and British Vintage Wireless Society. You can also learn how to transmit messages using Morse code as well as modern day systems. Children can make primitive telephones using cans and string and learn about semaphore. The normal opening times and admission prices apply. Bletchley Park is just a short walk from Bletchley station.
The sporting action today is courtesy of Bedford Town FC, who are at home to Cambridge City. Kick off is at 3pm at The Eeyrie, with the normal entry prices applying. The nearest station to The Eeyrie is Bedford St Johns, which is a bus or cycle ride away.
