Christmas Concerts at Bedford Station Raise over £1,000 for Bedford Food Bank

Passengers arriving at Bedford Station in the evening peak from 19th – 21st December were entertained by a selection of carols and Christmas music performed by Bedford Choral Society, Chasing Deer, and Opus 18 Community Choir.

The concerts were arranged by Marston Vale CRP in conjunction with Beds & Herts Community Rail Partnership and Thameslink.

A team of volunteers was on hand to collect donations from passengers and distribute colouring sheets and pencils to children.

Over £1,000 was raised. 15.04kg of food was donated too which will provide 35.8 meals.

Bedford Foodbank would very much welcome donations over the winter. You can donate directly to the Bedford Food Bank here.

Stephen Sleight, Marston Vale CRP Officer said, “I am delighted that our concerts raised such a large amount for a very worthy cause. My thanks to our fantastic team of volunteers, in particular Dave Hodgson, Mayor of Bedford and Mohammad Yasin MP for Bedford & Kempston for making time in their busy diaries to join us. And of course a huge ‘thank you’ to passengers for their generous donations!”
